私たちが主として行っている研究には、大きく分けて二つの取り組みがあります。一つ目は道路舗装に用いる材料の新規開発です。具体的には、現在使用されている石や砂、アスファルトを改良し、より高性能な新材料の提案をすることです。二つ目は現材料の再生利用です。現在、多くの舗装において再生材料が利用されていますが、その評価基準や運用基準が決まっていないものも存在しています。その新しい評価法と基準法の提案が必要とされています。これらの観点から、今日の生活において必要不可欠な道路舗装について研究を行っています。

In this laboratory, there are two main approaches to research. The first is the development of new materials for road paving. This includes proposing the use of aggregates (stones, sand, etc.) and asphalt binders of better performance than that of current materials. Our second approach is focused on reclaimed materials for road paving purposes. It is a common practice to use reclaimed materials, but the evaluation criteria and standards are yet to be decided. This is when we come into play. Our laboratory has these approaches to study pavements, which are such an important part of our daily lives.
