我が国は地震リスクが高い地域に位置しており、今後も規模の大きい地震が発生する可能性があります。しかし、地震の発生を防ぐことはできません。そこで、将来発生する地震とその被害を予測し、適切な対策により被害の最小化につながる研究を行っています。
主要テーマとして地震動予測の高度化があります。地震被害は地震動に大きく影響を受けることから、地震が発生する前に地震動が予測できれば適切な対策を行うことができます。一連の研究を通じて、安心・安全で安定的に継続する社会の実現を目指しています。

Japan located in high seismic risk zone. So the intense earthquake may be occurred in future. We can’t prevent occurrence of earthquakes. So we try to study on minimization of the earthquake damage through the research of field survey and numerical analysis. Upgrading of strong ground motion prediction is the main theme of our laboratory, because earthquake damage depends on strong ground motion. We contribute to the earthquake disaster mitigation by using knowledge obtained through our research.
