Study on Effect of Liquefaction Countermeasure in Residential Land by Compaction Gravel Pile
Satoru OHTSUKA
Recently, liquefaction countermeasure in the residential land is not progressed much from the effects of the cost and environmental issues. Usefulness of compaction gravel pile method for residential land exerting a combined liquefaction deterrent effect of increased density surrounding soil and drainage is expected. Combined liquefaction deterrent by effect of increased density of surrounding soil and drainage by the compaction gravel pile method has been verified from the field experiment and anamnestic research. However a boundary of the effects of each effect (increased density of surrounding soil, drainage) is not clear. I used a numerical analysis and model to research effect of increased density of surrounding soil by compaction gravel pile. The material constants used in the numerical analysis were determined by fitting the results of analysis simulation to results of tri-axial compression tests.
In this study, the verification test was carried out to verify the effect of compaction gravel pile. From the result of the method for Swedish weight sounding test, the effect of surrounding soil compaction by compaction gravel pile revealed. This effect also affect the position that is deeper than the gravel pile.
Using the finite element program ¡ÈDBLEAVES¡É, the numerical analysis was performed for the three types of three-dimensional diameter expansion model. As a result, the result of verification test did not agree with the numerical analysis result, but the details of various effects of surrounding soil compaction by compaction gravel pile was made clear. This effect varies with the diameter expansion time or number of the gravel pile. From the simulation result of the transition of the volume distortion, it was found that the ground around the pile was compressed. It means the soil was pushed away to the ground surface direction.
