Condition and future way of Gangi Arcade in Nagaoka

This study aims to clarify the current condition of Gangi Arcades in Nagaoka City and the intention of related people to Gangi Arcades. And we examine the ideal way in the future of Gangi Arcades.
As a result of the current situation survey and the questionnaire survey, we find that there are 1503 units, in other words, 10,959m Gangi at the central area in Nagaoka. Moreover, there is 201 Gangi Arcades. For 84 of them, the installation rate and continuousness is high. However, we confirm the problem of the deterioration of Gangi and the intermission of Gangi Arcades by low unused sites.
For the future, we think that it is necessary to attempt continuing Gangi Arcades with limiting them. It is important that the Nagaoka citizens recognize Gangi Arcades as the property of Nagaoka for that.
