Route Choice Behavior Analysis Focused on the Required Time Information in Nagaoka Fireworks Congestion
Kazushi SANO Hiroaki NISHIUCHI
The total of the two days of the number of visitors of the Nagaoka Fireworks is 100 million people scale. In particular 8 Route toward the Nagaoka interchange direction is heavy congestion route. As one of the congestion mitigation measures there is routes guidance measures to induce the driver to the alternate route. by providing information
However, to implement the measures, it is necessary to clarify the route choice behavior of drivers. Therefore, the purpose of this study is understanding the route choice behavior of the driver at Nagaoka fireworks by interviews to visitors and congestion situation research in the national highway Route 8. Further, assuming induction measures implemented at 8 Route, to evaluate the traffic situation at the time of introducing the measures using microscopic traffic simulation.
As a result the route choice layer in fireworks visitors was 70% or more, thus inducing measures were found to be feasible. Aiso, Terashima intersection and Sakai intersection turn right path has been found to be effective as an alternative route to the Nagaoka IC.
From the results of simulation the time required for all vehicles of Route 8 has been shortened, when the conversion rate of 15%,20%,25% to alternate routes, also most shortened conversion rate was 15%,but the time required for all routes other than 8 Route was shortened only when the conversion rate of 20%. When the conversion rate of 20%, was the required time is shortened by other routes as well as 8 Route.
