The Effect of Restriction State by the Reinforcing Rod to Degradation of RC Slab by Alkali-Silica Reaction

Recently, cases deterioration of RC Slab due to the alkali-silica reaction (ASR) has been reported. The crack by ASR causes corrosion of steel, loss of the appearance, deterioration of strength of concrete and Fracture of reinforcing reinforcements. However, there are few study cases about the RC slab deteriorated by ASR.
In this paper, we made the RC slab was intentionally-cause the damage due to ASR (ASR-slab) and RC slab healthy for comparison (N-slab), and we did static load test. So we considered about strength of slab that different in the reinforcement position by compare result of this research to result of Kobayashi¡Çs research.
We made ASR sample which restricted by reinforcement for confirm behavior by the element level about influence for it by reinforcement for confirm. So we consider that influence by ASR to the restriction state by reinforcement for the compression strength and the elastic modulus.
It conspicuous decline by ASR to relate between a stress to concrete and the distortion. But ASR slab double arrangement of reinforcements didn¡Çt conspicuous decline strength of static load test. It becomes little the location of the swell amount by double arrangement of reinforcements and it was possible to suppress transformation of slab.
The elastic modulus increase about 10% in test by restricted ASR sample that the free swell amount 3000¦Ì of degradation stage. And we saw occurrence of many cracks by result of test by restriction ASR sample and result of accelerated ASR of RC slab.
In this paper, we saw that could restrain of decline that strength of RC slab by making the reinforcement ratio in section of RC slab. However RC slab occurred many cracks. Cracks in the surface of RC slab cause permeation of water. So we need consideration that fundamental measure of ASR.
