Fundamental Study on Adhesive Bonding of Thin-walled Steel Pipe

Takeshi MIYASITA

In Japan, such as landslides caused by the earthquake and heavy rains have frequently, there is an urgent need embankment conservation. Currently, in the steel pipe embedded horizontally in the embankment, method to be used as a horizontal drain responsible drainage pipe has been proposed. However, thin-walled steel pipe used in this method must be welded in the field, is required advanced welding techniques. For this reason, the development of technology that can connect a steel pipe in the field has been strongly desired.
In this study, we aimed at the development of a method for connecting a convenience good steel in the field, the bending strength equivalent to a main portion thereof connection method, and a study aimed at commercialization by verifying that it has a tensile strength is there.
First, we select the best adhesive with implementing the strength confirmation of adhesive used to bond the steel pipe by tensile shear bond strength test. Then, using the chosen adhesive, and proposed a method that can connect convenience good steel in the field, was verified by bending test the connection. Are described the results obtained below.
(1) tensile elect two adhesive test was carried out both strength check. I was selected one of the adhesive from the point of view of the strength and workability.
(2) In the bending test, the presence and fixing length of the slit was subjected to strength compared to adhesive thickness in the parameter, the result of long sheath tube length without slit, better adhesion is thinner exhibit higher strength it has become.
(3) Verification and place for the assumed practicality that the steel tube is embedded in the embankment, satisfactory results in strength to that obtained and insufficient strength cases existed.
