Growth research are performed on site can do the research to detail of paddy rice, but it is difficult to diagnose all field of paddy field which are distributed widely. Therefore it is thought that a combination with the wider area analysis by the satellite remote sensing is effective. In addition, as the basic step, there is a need to understand the growth characteristics of paddy rice with ground-based observations as the spectral characteristics corresponding to the satellite observation information.
In this research, Focusing on the characteristics of visible range red and near infrared changes in paddy rice was examined correlation using the DVI (Difference Vegetation Index) is the difference in red in the near infrared and visible range.DVI calculated from the spectral characteristics and percentage of vegetation cover of paddy rice growing season by ground-based observations, and to compare the correlation between the DVI calculated from time-series MODIS data, and aims to examine the adaptability to MODIS data of ground spectroscopic basic observation information.
The relationship of ground observations DVI and percentage of vegetation cover, it was possible to confirm the high correlation. In the ground observations DVI and MODIS observations DVI showed a tendency to increase until the sprouting season, showed a decreasing since then. About the correlation, in MODIS, high correlation was seen between one and ground observations DVI areas were extracted DVI, was observed different tendency from other areas. This is because the other the difference was seen cultivars that are planted in this area. The increasing tendency was seen as for the percentage of vegetation cover when each increasing in ground-based observation DVI and MODIS observation DVI. Adaptability to MODIS data of ground spectral basic observation information was seen from these results.
