During Japan¡Çs economy high-growth period many concrete structures were built. Since then, more than 50 years had passed making the structure aging a problem to be treated by structural management which depends on the appropiate diagnosis of the structure. For this, it is neccesary to clarify the actual status of the structures themselves.
¡¡This research has as objective to investigate about some sort of structural diagnosis and by the results obtained by those, conclude about the evaluation¡Çs criteria applied to concrete structures built in Japan¡Çs economy high-growth period. To make this 10 cutted slabs donated from Itoigawa Isobe¡Çs elementary school, a school built during this period, were used.
¡¡The slabs were subdued to a dimension measuring study and loading experimental tests. Then with the results of these, the next conclusion were determinated.
¡¡First, the slabs form was not build with good precision. It presents clearly variations in the slabs witdh, the steel reinforcement cover and the separation between the steel ribs.
¡¡Furthermore, every slab also presented different load resistence values. Thus, relating this load resistence variation with the dimensions variation, the inadecuate precision of the slab¡Çs dimensions affecting the slabs load resistence was known.
¡¡Nevertheless, anevaluation of the quality of the slab¡Çs concrete concrete was made using the Japanese Architectural Standart Specification JASS and even though the slabs¡Ç load resistence variation, the slabs were built fullfiling the agreetments of this specification. In other words, the slabs¡Ç average load resistence was more stronger than the the minimun value indicated in the JASS.
¡¡Thus, with research the dimensional variation and the quality of the construction has a affect directly the load resistence of the slabs. Also, through this study it was started to believed that concrete structures built during Japan¡Çs economy high-growth period present a inferior quality towards the JASS and the necesity of diagnosisof this sort of structes was clarified.
