Development of Rigid Plastic MPS and its application to large deformation analysis of soil structures

Ohtsuka Satoru

Finite Element Method (FEM) is often used in the deformation analisys of soil structure. However, FEM is not suitable for large deformation analysis. Therefore, focused on the MPS method that is often used in hydrodynamics that is suitable for analysis of large deformation problems.
In the present study, intended for application to ground structure deformation analysis of the MPS method, created the MPS analysis code that applies a rigid-plastic constitutive equation (referred to as RPMPS) .
The analysis was performed in three patterns to verify the applicability of the analysis code.
1) Uniaxial compression and Uniaxial tensile
2) Penetration of the pile and Penetration of the hollow pile
3) Collapse of its own weight slope
In 1), Deformation occurs at the ultimate load, appropriate results were obtained.
In 2), It was able to express the state of penetration of the pile.
In 3), Different results due to differences in material constants were obtained.
From there, it was possible to confirm the applicability of MPS analysis code. However, the problem is that the calculation does not converge remained Analysis of large deformation.
RPMPS has few analysis examples, It is necessary to examine the case studies to increase the analysis of the case under various conditions.
