Kazushi SANO, Hiroaki NISHIUCHI

Due to the population decline, the aging and lack of urban stores in city centers of Japan, the revitalization for these city centers is recent issue in many cities in Japan.I considered the number of shopping becomes more if the stay time of the visitor becomes longer. That leads to the stimulation of the prosperity of the city centers. Therefore, this study investigates the point by using the length of stay of public tranport passengers based on information from smart card data called Desuca that has been used sinceĦĦJanuary of 2010 in Kochi city.Specifically, the study develops a model of stay time based on geographic characteristics of each bus and tram stops as well as the personal characteristics of the passengers to determine factors influencing the stay time.Because the subjects of this study is free trip, it is possible to determine trips that have the same starting points and end points or the end of the first trip coincides with the starting point of the second trip based on the historical data of IC card Desuca. The research ignores some unsuitable data, matching the data following each bus and tram stops, resulting in 86 points for the whole city and 22 points for the city center that are suitable. In addition, by using all the data such as data compiled by the mesh code or modified by using information of national land that is treated on GIS systems, the research can collect data on geographical features such as tourist destinations, public utilities, commercial establishments. Analyzing the collected data, we found a factor affecting the average stay time of the visitors.
