Effects of spatial difference of environmental conditions on the creep deformation of concrete members

Takumi Shimomura

In the PC bridge used for a long time, its long-term creep deflection is greater than the predicted value. This is a phenomenon that has been reported in recent years.A major cause of this phenomenon is the spatial gradient of moisture in the cross section of the bridge. In this paper, we propose an approach to predict the long-term deflection of the PC bridges.
By the duration loading test using the PC beams that controlled drying conditions of concrete surface, we got test data. The test have showed that drying shrinkage of concrete have a significant effect to the creep deflection of the beams and simultaneous action of duration loading and drying shrinkage is accelerated drying creep.
As a result of compare the experimental values to numerical analysis, the deflection of both didn't match , so it is necessary to hereafter examine.
