The Load Carrying Mechanism of RC Slab that Deteriorated by Alkali Silica Reaction.

Takumi SHIMOMURA

Recently, cases deterioration of reinforced concrete Slab due to the alkali-silica reaction (ASR) has been reported. However, Studies about the RC slab deteriorated by ASR is only counting the two cases in the country, there are not many case studies.
Therefore, we made the RC slab was intentionally cause the damage due to ASR(A-series) and RC slab healthy for comparison(N-series), and we did static load test and fatigue (Specimens condition was dry and wet) test of these RC slabs. The purpose of two types of specimen was made in order to investigate the structural performance of .RC slab deteriorated by Alkali silica reaction.
And we measured the change in material strength with progress of degradation due to ASR. Its purpose is reflected in evaluation of structural performance of the slab deteriorated by ASR to change in material strength with progress of degradation due to ASR. For this purpose, we made rectangular specimens of uniaxial restrained condition, and it deteriorated under the same conditions as the slab specimens, and we measured the strength of the core was taken from the rectangular specimens at predetermined time.
From the results of the loading test, structural performance of RC slab deteriorated by ASR can be predicted from the formula about punching shear, if we calculated taking into account the degradation of material strength.
