Estimate of Corrosion of Steel Bars by Input Level of the Corrosion Crack Property of the Structure Surface

Takumi SHIMOMURA

The damage from salt breeze progresses by outbreak such as crazing to occur in initial defect and service, the corrosion crack acceleratingly and finally reduces the performance of the structure.
The internal deterioration situation is estimated based on provided information by the deterioration situation of the appearance or limited nondestructive testing without being got the corrosion situation of the steel materials in the structure with the true structure in detail, and the survival performance is evaluated.
However, it is the present conditions that studies for prestressed concrete (PC) materials are very few.
That is why precision is good, and a performance evaluation and development of technique predicting are required in future while thinking about the deterioration factor by environmental condition and constitution materials to perform the maintenance of the PC structure effectively.
The loading test result of the pre-tension PC girder which it was exposed to damage from salt breeze environment in this study for approximately 35 years, and deteriorated was used and was examined relations with the situation of the surface crack that was deterioration information to be provided than the appearance and the corrosion situation of internal steel materials.
As a result, it is almost grasped quantity of corrosion of steel materials based on data of the crack width to be provided than an appearance investigation.
Furthermore, in this study, steel materials corrosion and relations of corrosion crack were examined by a corrosion examination.
As a result, it was suggested that the internal crack that occurred by adjacent steel materials having corroded affected the surface crack width. The effectiveness of the domain average was confirmed in the indoor experiment, but it was by outbreak of the internal crack by the difference of the corrosion point, and a difference was shown in the tendency.
