Research on the improvement in convenience of the rental bicycle in Niigata city

In recent years, the traffic congestion in urban areas, the increase in the lifestyle-related disease by the lack of exercise and the global warming by the carbon dioxide which a car emit has been a socially issue.
In connection with this, in order to depart from automatic automobile dependency, promotion of bicycle use is proposed in many cases.
In the U.S., a 50 billion yen or more budget is allotted to a bicycle policy, and various self-governing bodies also in Japan are performing the measure which utilizes a bicycle.
In recent years, the bicycle sharing service called a community cycle has spread centering on Europe cities, such as Paris London, and is carried out in every corner of the world.
A community cycle is a kind of bicycle loan service. Arranging the station which can park and lend bicycle in the area, and the user can lend and return of a bicycle at every station.
The system of such sharing bicycle is contributed to activation of regional economy, reduction of illegal parking, and reduction of relief and carbon-dioxide emissions of traffic congestion.
In Niigata city, "Niigata rental bicycle" which is a manned community cycle is working on 2002 in some areas, such as Furumachi and the Bandai area.
In this research, investigation and analysis aiming at considering the measure which contributes to the increase the user of a "Niigata rental bicycle", and improvement in convenience were conducted, and proposed station arrangement, fee structure, a place with potential needs, the measure for obtaining a new user from the acquired knowledge.
