Development of Analytical Model to Evaluate the Rate of Steel Corrosion in Reinforced Concrete Subjected to Chloride Induced Damage
Kyuichi MARUYAMA
The objective of this study was to develop the analytical model to evaluate the rate of steel corrosion in reinforced concrete in various environmental conditions.
Therefore, first basic investigation of corrosion reaction and environmental factors that affect it was carried out focusing on the movement of molecules and electron.
Using the result, develop the analytical model to calculate the rate of steel corrosion in aqueous solution.
The calculation method of corrosion rate conformed to the electrochemical theory, corrosion rate was calculated based on the speed of movement of electoron and molecules of substances involved in the corrosion reaction.
As a result , analysis values were in good agreement with the experimental value of previous research.
In addition, this model could reproduce the experimental value than the previous model.
In order to apply this model to the environment in concrete, considered the pitting corrosion reaction and relationship between the water film thickness and corrosion rate.
As a result , this model can reproduce the result of exposure test of previous research has been shown.
It is necessary to carry out the analysis in various environmental conditions, to verify the validity
