Research on Sense of participation of¡Öno-my-car-day¡×and Factor of Commuting Means Selection

This study focuses on a Car Free Day (CFD) and analyzes comuters¡Ç behaviors on the day. We conducted survey in Niigata and Nagaoka and obtained the date about the ordinally transportation modes, transportation modes during CFD, the experiences on CFD, consciousness for environment issuees, and their attributes.
SEM is applied to survey data in Nagaoka and we obtain the fact that the experience of participation in the past CFD and the motivation to raduce the usage for automobile increase the number of participants.
A disaggregate model is also applied and we obtain the fact (1)People who like cars and need them apt to use their cars for their comuting, (2) People who have motivation to reduce the usage of automobile prefer to walk and to use bicycle, (3)People who have experience in participation in CDF and strong intention from their company preter to car pooling.
By comparing data between Niigata and Nagaoka, we obtain the fact that the service level of bus service makes an important role to select the public transportation.We recognize that the convenience of public transportation encourages shift from automobile to the bus or train
