For Nagaoka City, this study aims to clarify the residence condition of single person households who work in the office, and to propose it to promote making them to whom an increase in the future is expected living in the down-town area. We clarify the following by the questionnaire survey for the single person households that work both in downtown and at industrial estate in suburbs. The selection of the residence place of the single person household is strongly influenced by the distance with office, the provisions to house and commuting, and the policy of the office for house. The living substitution for the downtown has demand for not only the person who works in the downtown but also those who work in suburbs. It is a problem that the new house is few though there is its stock and that there is no low-priced parking lots in the downtown.
