Ductility Reinforcement Mechanism of RC Pier with External Continuous Fiber Rope
Supervisor: Takumi SHIMOMURA
Recently, a lot of proposal has been done about the retrofitting of reinforced concrete structure.Any seismic retrofitting has strong point and weak point.
The retrofitting method with external continuous fiber rope is researched as one of these retrofitting methods. CF rope doesn¡Çt much increase shear capacity. However, ductility is enough improved because spalling of concrete is prevented by CF rope. Therefore, reinforcement mechanism by CF rope is not clear.
Then, the present study aimed to become basic of the establishment of the design method, and clarified the reinforcing mechanism with the continuous fiber rope from the experiment that changed the rope interval. The mechanical model that forecast the performance after it had reinforced it based on this mechanism was developed.
As a result, It was experimentally verified that CF rope can improve ductility of existing RC members by preventing spalling-off of crushed concrete in compression zone under reversed cyclic load. It was confirmed to be able to reproduce the tendency to the outcome of an experiment roughly as the close displacement increased by the interval of the rope small as for the developed model.
