Numerical simulation of dam reservoir using ¦Ò coordinate system

Tokuzou HOSOYAMADA

In the dam reservoir that is the semi-closed water area, water pollution caused by stratification is a problem. Various measures against this have been thought. It is necessary to understand the flow of the reservoir to evaluate measures. A lot of simulations have been done up to now. However, the cartesian coordinate system was used for this. The error margin is caused because the cartesian coordinate system expresses the bottom like the stairs. In the present study, the numerical simulation in the dam reservoir was done with a ¦Ò coordinate system.
In general, the horizontal direction of the scale of the dam reservoir is smaller than the direction of the flow. Therefore, the direction of the flow and the change in the direction of depth are large. Then, the present study calculated two dimensions. The equation used is Equation of continuity and Navier-Stokes equations. To build virtual circulation facilities in this model, the density of the bottom in two places lowered more than the calculation value. Moreover, the position of the outflow condition and the circulation facilities was changed and it calculated by six cases
As for the result, making the dam reservoir a stratification was expressible. And, it was able to be confirmed that the stratification was able to be destroyed by setting up the circulation facilities in a deep place.
