Study on the Role and Future Ideal Way of Key Village in Rural Area

This study aims to clarify the role that the key village have played in the rural area and to propose the future ideal way of the key villages.
We extract the key village by setting the condition of the scale and function from agricultural villages in Niigata Prefecture. We select three key villages where the centrality and the functionality are high, and understand the function related to the life and the actual situation of the resident from the document investigation and the questionnaire survey.
As a result, we clarify the following things. Two or more public facilities that existed in the area before have been integrated into the key village and the number of stores also has decreased. The public transportation is operated according to the situation. However, the residents shop outside the area while the residents use public facilities in the area. The key villages play the role to provide the residents with public service
