Effect of a Proposed Speed System on Trip Travel Time and Fuel Consumption

Supervisor: Kazushi SANO

In order to make the traffic flow at night smooth and reduce the amount of the CO2 exhaust, fuel input rating as well as the trip travel time. This study designed and evaluated proposed speed system in which vehicle speeds would not be interrupted by traffic signals.
The first step is to collect the traffic state, speed of acceleration and traffic signal date by using video. Next, Pramics Estimator is used to estimate the OD matrix. Finally the estimate OD matrix and surveyed date were input to the computing model to calibrate and validate. The result showed that the fuel consumption reduce by 10%~20% mean while significant changes in trip travel time and not seen. There are two improvements that considering outstripping in two lanes and the road grade.
