Extraction of three-dimensional form characteristics of the paddy fields using terrestrial laser scanner measurement

Atsushi RIKIMARU Kazuyoshi TAKAHASHI

The measurements are widely used in rice growing practices as a diagnostic technique; it is difficult to measure a wide area. This study focuses on changes in the shape of the rice grown in paddy rice as a growth diagnostic index, were measured by terrestrial laser scanner. That created an experimental apparatus to measure the surface of paddy field from above the rice in the field. In the rice field were measured periodically by terrestrial laser scanner measurements. Laser scanner measurement data obtained in the rice-growing season. Assuming a conical shape with rice, rice was calculated body height and radius. Measurements comparing the two parameters and practices. The index compares the value estimated by dry weight and volume parameters of the two cones. As a result, the height and laser measurement results, gained a strong correlation for each volume. Suggested that things were a valid means of measurement for rice growth monitoring of laser scanner measurements
