Deformation and Stress of Concrete Member Under Internal and External Restraint Drying Shrinkage and Sustaining External Tensile Load

Takumi SHIMOMURA

To predict shrinkage crack in concrete, it is necessary to clarify characteristic of stress and effective strain of the concrete member when its shrinkage is restrained.
In this research, experiments focusing on drying shrinkage of concrete member were carried out to investigate stress-effective strain relationship of concrete member under drying shrinkage and sustainable tensile loading by using the newly developed testing machine for hollow cylindrical concrete under sustaining tensile load and restraint shrinkage.
Four series of experiments, in which loading pass and drying condition were set as exterimental parameters, were carried out. From the results, the influence of drying shrinkage and loading rate on stress-effective strain relationship were investigated. It was proved that time-dependent stress-strain relationship of concrete member was properly extracted by using the developed testing machine.
