Development of Wind Tunnel for Simulation of Airborne salt

Supervisorˇ§Takumi SHIMOMURA

First of all, The accurate prediction of the deterioration process of concrete structures due to chloride harm, it is necessary to develop an estimation method for chloride concentration at concrete surface used at the boundary condition of chloride penetration in concrete. For that reason, it is necessary to preparation the condition of any experiment that the environmental condition of damage from salt was controlled.
In this study, 3 group of experiments has done. First, it was developed that, the wind tunnel system include in airborne salt with the amount of chloride attainment to surface of concrete is controlled quantitatively or constant. Second, the 3 kind as W/C of concrete were exposure in produced system, and the density of chloride as depth was examined. Third, the inspection from the result of exposure test with the solution of Boltzmann-Matano was examined about diffusion coefficient.
Results, it was confirmed that, the normal distribution of the chloride by depth from results of exposure test by this production were able to gain. And, it was clarified that, the diffusion coefficient was able to vary by variation of density of chloride and the density of chloride in concrete pieces by depth and the diffusion coefficient is a linier relation of logarithm in both.
