Analysis the Flow Mechanism of the Cambodian Coastal Region

Tokuzo HOSOYAMADA

Cambodia is rapidly developed now. Large-scale development is planned also in the Cambodian coastal region too. The Cambodian coastal region faces a Thai bay, the Change in environment in Cambodian coastal region is expected to influence the entire Thai bay. Environmental assessment is not done in the Cambodian coastal region though environmental assessment is done to prevent this situation when large-scale developing recently. As the reason, the flow mechanism of a Thai bay and the Cambodian coastal region is not understood though it is necessary to understand the flow mechanism of the sea area to do environmental assessment in the coastal region. Doing environmental assessment in the Cambodian coastal region is necessary for developing the Cambodian coastal region by the above-mentioned reason. Therefore, the present study aimed to understand the flow mechanism of a Cambodian coastal region and the entire Thai bay. The following conclusions were obtained as a result of analyzing the tidal flow and the wind drift by using two dimension numerical model.

A detailed tide style can be simulated by using NAO.99b as compulsion a water level in the place where an unavailable sea area of tidal constant. The tidal flow forms a clockwise circulation style in a Thai bay, and the tidal exchange is done through the south of the Cambodian coast region and the west side of Sihanoukville. The density is reduced by half in the Cambodian coast region and the vicinity of Sihanoukville on the 13th after it begins to calculate, and the tidal exchange is almost completed after half a year. The influence of the wind drift is smaller than the tidal flow in a Thai bay. Seawater flows complexly in the Cambodian coast region. The tidal exchange of Thmei and Kaeb is comparatively high, and the stagnation of Angkor is very high
