This study aims to propose the role of the regional center city and the future ideal situation between the city and its surrounding local authorities by focusing on the local medium-small size (less than 100,000 people) where it has the role of regional center.
We select the object cities of this study from the function and location factor of city. Similarly, we set the region from some region setting factors, and understood the situation and structure of the region from the hearing investigation of the municipality that composed region.
As the situation of the regional structure, we clarify that the connection on the geographical and historical aspect is strong and that the life of the local residents mainly perform around the regional center city. In the wide area cooperation, each local authority has the problem from the difference of the idea for the business. Moreover, we clarify that the necessity of the regional central city has been weakening because the range of the action such as shopping of the local residents tended to the expansion as the progress of motorization in recent years.
