Shaking table test on flow failure mechanism of Soil Structure constructed by intermediate soil

Satoru OHTSUKA

In Niigata Prefecture Nakagoshi earthquake that occurred in 2004, in newly-developedĦĦbuilding estates at Taka-machi in Nagaoka City, failure of fill did buildings and regional road around newly-developed building estates. It is said that torrential rain by the typhoon immediately before the earthquake expanded damage. When a physical characteristic and mechanics characteristic of fill material were examined, it was classified into sand, clay, and an intermediate soil. However, the example of researching failure mechanism of fill that uses the ground material that contains a lot of minute grain in a current research is few. Then, this research experiments shaking table test on slope failure under seepage condition of fill constructed by intermediate soil.
The following have been understood from the examination result. The input movement acted on the transformation because of the test result, and failure that originated in creep and liquidizing was not generated. When the satiety region exists in fill, it greatly influences the stability of fill when shaking it. Fill doesn't failure when the density of fill is high enough. When the water level of seepage in fill is different, failure form when shaking it is different. The excess pore water pressure of fill constructed by intermediate soil rises by shaking, and displacement increases afterwards.
