Change of Properties Phosphate Glasses

P2O5-ZnO-Cu2O glasses are new low melting glasses without PbO.These glasses melts in a reduction atmosphere in order to generate Cu+ ion.In reduction atmosphere, not only copper ion but also phosphorus ion is reduced, and it is considered that the various properties of glasses will change.

In this study, the effect of the phosphorus of reduction on the structure and physical properties are changed.P2O5-ZnO and P2O5-Na2O binary glasses were prepared by melting as a reducing agent.Effects of reduction on structure and physical properties were studied.

It was found that Tg, Tf and viscosity are increased with increasing of glucose content.Also density was decreased slightly.

These results were discussed based on the structural change of glasses by reduction.
