A Study of Soil Color Image Normalization for Decreasing the Influence of Surface Roughness and Water Content

Atsushi RIKIMARU, Kazuyoshi TAKAHASHI

The use of the remote sensing has attracted attentions to acquire an information on vast farmland now. However, the spectral reflectance of soil changes by the soil component and the water content. Especially, the spectral reflectance of soil changes by the surface roughness of soil and water content in case of the same soil. This becomes a noise when grasping soil information over a wide area using remote sensing data. In this study, from the spectrum reflection measurement result of the soil that changes the surface roughness of soil or the water content, I trialed the normalization technique of spectral reflectance for decreasing the influence by the surface roughness of soil and the water content. Furthermore, using this normalization technique, I trialed the normalization images for decreasing the influence by the surface roughness of soil and the water content on digital camera images and high-resolution satellite images. As a result, the normalization technique was able to decrease the influence of spectral reflectance by the surface roughness of soil and the water content. By making the normalization image, it was able to decrease the influence by the surface roughness of soil and the water content on images
