Experimental study on chloride concentration at concrete surface developed by airborne salt
Supervisorˇ§Takumi SHIMOMURA
For accurate prediction of the deterioration process of concrete structures due to chloride attack, it is necessary to develop an estimation method for chloride concentration at concrete surface used as the boundary condition of chloride penetration into concrete.
In this study, the relation between the amount of chloride attainment to surface of concrete and chloride concentration at concrete surface was quantitatively examined on the basis of a laboratory test simulating transport process of chlorides from environment to concrete. The influence of environmental actions by the rainfall and by sunshine on the chloride concentration at concrete surface was examined.
It was clarified that amount of chloride attainment to surface of concrete and the chloride concentration at concrete surface were in a linear relation, and that the chloride concentration at concrete surface can be predicted from the amount of chloride attainment to surface of concrete based on the laboratory model
