Influence of formation of sandbars on saltwedge runup at Agano river mouth
Tokuzou HOSOYAMADA
In a coastal area, salt wedge sometimes harms utilization of waters especially for agriculture and industry. In the previous studies, the relationship between runup of saltwedge and sandbars has been ignored because the theoretical study is under the assumption of steady state and uniform distribution of river condition. In this study, real field data analysis in Agano river mouth in the year of 2005 and 2006 and numerical simulation for non uniform and non steady state is conducted.
The data analysis shows that total amount of salt wedge runup is more in 2005 than in 2006, which means that river mouth has a tendency of prevention of salt wedge runup. ĦĦĦĦĦĦFor the numerical simulation saltwedge runup is quite satisfactory. However, the estimation of prevention of saltwedge runup by the river mouth is not very remarkable.
