Study on the Use of the Monthly Parking Space at the Downtown in Local Cities
¡¡Case study in Nagaoka City

Bunpei Nakade, Shu Higuchi, Toshiya Matsukawa

For the downtown of Nagaoka City, this study aims to clarify the distribution and the use state of the parking lot and to understand the current use condition about the monthly rental parking that the enterprises and the employed persons of the downtown use.
As a result of the study, we clarified the following. The contracted ratio of monthly parking space is very high with 96.6% and the monthly parking space fills current demand though the number of monthly parking space occupies more than half the number of the entire parking lots. The enterprise gives priority to the distance to the company short even if the charge is high when it chooses the parking lot. Those parkings are used for the employee who commutes with 50%, for the company with 30% and for visitors with 20 %. The employee who privately contracts the parking lot has selected it of the cheap rate though he or she values the distance from there to the company. The number of parking lots of the cheap rate will increase by the fringe of the downtown in the future.
