Removal of lead ions in an aqueous environment by adsorption and photocatalysis.

Kazunori SATO

Photocatalyst is a promising environmentally-friendly lead trapping agent existing at a low concentration level in an aqueous environment. In this study, several photocatalyst oxides combined with ¦Á-FeOOH particles have been investigated in order to confirm the adsorptive ability for lead ions at low concentrations in a solution. The adsorption experiments revealed that photocatalytic effects is effective for the precipitation of lead oxide on the surface of photocatalyst oxide. The combined effect of photocatalysis and ion-exchange adsorption was observed for the composite samples prepared in this experiment.
