Study about the Geographical Characteristics of Storage Function Model Parameter in Hokkaido

Minjiao Lu

Recently flood disasters frequently occur in medium or small river basins, Non-constructive measures including flood forecasting are needed. However, it is difficult to apply rainfall runoff model because hydrological data are not available in such local river basins. The purpose of this study is to find a way to estimate parameter from the geographic information that can get comparatively easily derived. This technique is called as synthesization of model parameter.

This study used flood runoff data in Hokkaido in synthesization of storage function model with an approach similar to that proposed by Nagai et al (1985), and got a relationship between the storage function parameter and the basin area. The estimated parameter was tested in rainfall runoff analysis. In addition, the influence on the parameters that temporal resolution has was removed based on the results of T.Yamamoto, and, M.Lu (2006).
