Research on the Influence of Bar Arrangement Against Movement of Chloride Ion in Desalination

SupervisorFTakumi SHIMOMURA

Nowadays, degradation of concrete structures, caused by chloride attack, becomes a serious problem. In this study, the efficiency of desalination is focused on, that is one of the solution against chloride attack.
To comprehend the electric field characteristic in concrete on desalination, the current distribution and the electric potential distribution ware measured. Moreover, desalination effective area was estimated from the measurement results of free chloride ion and the electric potential distribution. As a result, it was confirmed that the desalination effective area can be estimated from the measurement results of free chloride ion and the electric potential distribution.
To discuss the influence of bar arrangement on the movement of chloride ion, desalination is applied to specimen that has parallel arranged rebars or tandem arranged rebars. After finishing the desalination, density of free chloride was measured. In the result, it was cleared that existence of the position in which chloride ion canft move easily due to arrangement of bars.
The outdoors exposure experiment was conducted for long periods to PC specimen that was desalinated. In the result, the crack occurred which is thought to be aftereffects of an alkali-aggregate reaction.
