Experimental Study on the Punching Sear Behavior of Pre-cracked Reinforced Concrete Slabs

Takumi SHIMOMURA

In this study, the influence of pre-cracks on the behavior reinforced concrete in punching shear is investigated. To clarify the influence of the crack and the shear transfer mechanism of pre-cracked RC slab, the punching shear-loading test of the specimen containing artificial pre-crack was conducted. In the experimental program, the characteristic of the crack (position, shape, and direction) were focused on.
In case of horizontally arranged pre-crack, tied arch mechanism was formed after flexural cracks occurred. In case pre-crack was arranged vertically, several failure paths were observed owing to shear transfer stress at crack surface. Hence, the estimation method of shear capacity in each failure paths were proposed by using beam theory and shear transfer model. Itfs verified that proposed method adequately evaluate both failure path and capacities of RC-slab members.
