A study on ultimate behavior of cable crane steel tower

A cable crane steel tower of temporary structure used for construction of superstructure work of bridge is discussed in this research. Because of the influences of temporary structure on plan design of main body structure, content of construction, safety, economic efficiency as well as time schedule, the importance of temporary structure is growing more and more. In this research, the effects of difference of rigidity between bent and horizontal brace and difference of support conditions at support parts under load state provided for by design construction indicator on ultimate behavior of cable crane steel tower is considered basing on comparison between simple model published in [Steel structure construction design construction indicator] and detailed model close steel tower used in actual construction.
The following results are obtained:
EThe influence of rigidity of horizontal brace and bent on load bearing ability of steel tower is large. It consists of the case that yield phenomenon occurs when the load that does not come up to the designed load and the case to ultimate state by little displacement.
EThe load bearing ability improves and the safety rises by reinforcing at position in which yield phenomenon often happens at joint of pillar material and horizontal brace.
EThere is a case that no influence of the bent occurs according to the structure of the designed horizontal brace. In that case, the reduction of cost becomes possible by neglecting the bent.
EIn this study, the analysis is carried out basing on various combinations and it is preferable to employ the most suitable model for the condition in construction field.
