Analysis of Wave Characteristics in Niigata Coastal Sea Area with Wave Hindcasting Model

Niigata coastal sea area has got problems by seasonal wind in winter season. So the reform construction is carried out. Firstly, it is very important to understand wave character in each coast, when it is planed. But now wave observatories that general students can get data easily in Niigata prefecture are only two. It is necessary to grasp wave character newly in other sea areas by local observation or wave hindcasting. This paper tried diverse analysis of wave character in the field, after wave hindcasting has been executed by the third generation wave model SWAN used in the field of coastal engineering generally in Japan sea area in winter. The wind and geographical data provided by ECMWF and NGDC were used. This paper presents wave character in the field were recreated by SWAN and has been executed analysis.
