It is necessary to examine the influence of molten slag of waste (Municipal Solid Waste, and MSW Incinerator Ash) to the environment when utilized as recycled resources. In Japan, Japanese leaching test (JLT-46) was used for the using judgment of safety for the slag. However, there is a problem that leachate properties are different from use configuration. It is important to investigate the leaching properties of various kinds of industrial and municipal wastes for adequate waste management (toxicity judging), and utilization of wastes.
Then, the purpose in this study is to estimate the leachate phenomenon of heavy metal from the slag, the column test were examined that reproduced the use situation of slag in environment.
Leachate of Cd was almost finished by a month. Leachate of Cr was almost finished by three months. Leachate of Pb from slag continued at least for five months. In addition, leaching rate of Pb by a column test exceeded leaching rate of the JLT46 with some samples. There was a possibility that the JLT-46 could not estimate quantity of long-term elution of Pb from slag. We concluded that evaluation by the column test was necessary for safe recycling of waste.
