Properties of Shotcrete Mortar with the Use of Industrial By-Product

Supervisor:Kyuichi MARUYAMA

Recently, amount of industrial waste is increasing. Therefore, recycling industrial waste is important. The objective of this research is to recycle industrial waste as shotcrete mortar, and to establish an evaluation index of pumpability.
First of all, site test is carried out to confirm whether the industrial material could be reused as shotcrete or not. Fresh conditions, pumpability, workability, and quality after hardening are examined during the test.
In case of normal mortal, slump-flow is used as the index of fresh condition. So, we examined whether fresh properties of by-product involved mortal could be also estimated by slump-flow or not. In case that slump-flow is not adequate as the index, another index should be proposed.
In consequence, shotcrete mortar with the use of industrial by-product was able to satisfy the target value regarding air content, rebound ratio, compressive strength, and the leaching rate of toxic metal. While, the crack was observed after hardening. Therefore, it is necessary to develop preventive measures against the crack.
As to the index of fresh property, viscous friction was picked out, and viscous test was executed. But it was clarified that pumpability cannot be estimated by the viscosity coefficient. Therefore, the evaluation method with another index should be developed for quality control of shotcrete containing by-product.
