The Research of the Underground Sound by the Wavelet Transform

Yasuyuki MIYAKI

As for predicting landslide by the underground sound has been researched since several years in my laboratory. In last year, it paid attention to the sound which occurred when a root was cut off as one of the underground sounds. As a result of experiment about effective range of vibration sensor, the range was 2m.

But the result cannot be used to a landslide alarm system by underground sound

So, as for this research, it aimed at the expansion of the effective range of the sensor in this year. The improvements to attain a research purpose are these three items. They are (1)To introduce Wavelet transform.(2)To bury sensor in the depth of 20cm.(3)To detect of the sound which occurs when a root is cut off by the frequency band of 60 Hz - 80 Hz.

As that result, the effective range of the sensor was 4.5 times in comparison with the effective range in last year.

It can think about these as a future subject of this research. They are (1)To collect data in the actual landslide spot.(2)To develop a safe method even when the weather is bad.
