The Restructuring Plan for Bus Network Considering Cooperation with Railroad Traffic in Bangkok

Kazushi SANO

The purpose of this study is the construction of traffic mode choice model that based on regional characteristics and individual attribution, and the effective maximization of the user by the restructuring of the bus network.
Using totaling result of the questionnaire surveyed in central urban district of Bangkok, traffic mode choice model was constructed. The Multinomial Logit Model was adopted, and the hitting ratio of about 70% was obtained as a whole. To begin with, the present condition of traffic was reproduced using "JICA STRADA" in restructuring plan of the bus network, and the problem was grasped. In the new bus network plan, based on them, the plan which carried out "BTS charge cut in price" on the basis that re-plan of the route in phase 5 stages was evaluated. The results imply that to set lower price BTS will gain the maximum number of passengers the previously use PC. In addition, this policy in seems to be the most desirable in this study because the lower price of BTS is the best way to increase the number of BTS passengers, income, and to reduce the average V/C and the number of mode changes
Future problem is to plan the more systematic and efficient bus network. In addition, the better segmentation of regional characteristics and individual attribution, will improve the accuracy of the mode choice model.
