A Study of the accuracy of two-dimensional elastic element of FEM

Eiji Iwasaki

The finite element method (FEM) has a various issues. In this study, I considered numerical locking and derived the number and form of zero energy modes. When we analyze structures by FEM, we get value far removed from correct answer. This phenomenon is numerical locking that is over estimate of rigidity. So, we use reduced integration to solve this problem. However, using reduced integration, we get zero energy modes. I theoretically derived these modes. Furthermore, I observed relationship between member length and eigen value. I got that we must attend to use reduced integration.
