A Study on the Way of Designating Urbanization Promotion Area of Local Cities

In this study, we take notice of the separately designated part of urbanization promotion area which tends to bring about the loose urban expansion. By spatially grasping the expansion of area designated for urbanization promotion area, we examine the appropriate designating way of the area.
First, we spatially grasp the transition of area designated for urbanization promotion area for past of 30 years of local cities. The result showed that many cities has formed low dense urban area.
Then we analyze 4 cities in Fukushima prefecture from both the macroscopic and microscopic viewpoints. As the result, we find that few enterprises have located in separately designated part and that the tendency which population has not increased at large-scale housing development or land readjustment project area as planned.
