Recently, the world's population exceeded six billion and the food situation of the world will be feared in the future.
The Mekong river basin is an eminent area of rice in the eminent world and especially a vast rice field utilizing rain water extends in the Mekong delta its downstream region, and the rice production in the Mekong river basin will be of considered a region where easing of the food problem can be expected in the future.

However, the seasonal variation and the annual change the water environment in the Mekong river basin is large, and there inundate and the drought, etc. happen frequently.
It is important to grasp land cover and land use distribution information of the basin area and their changes luring a long period for the steady use of land use and the water resource future.
In this research, Techniques for restoring and grasping the land cover and land use information on the Mekong river basin.
A land-use map of a limited part of was generated by using Landsat data. Moreover, the vegetation density cover was extracted by using EOS-TERRA-MODIS with high frequent and a wide coverage observation, and the change pattern of the vegetation cover density was analyzed. And, the farmland was chiefly classified. The waters were extracted by using the RADARSAT data and the wet areas including vegetations were grasped, by using the MODIS-LST data set.
Several points of in farmland classified with it why were surveyed on the ground and the classification results were found to the correct.
