Mechanical Behavior of Plate Made with Chipped FFU
Supervisor Kyuichi MARUYAMA
The process of making Fiber Reinforced Formed Urethane members produces some amount of waste.
It is requires to reuse such waste material by environmental and economic reasons. One solution is
to make some structural members with such wastes. In this study plate members made from tipped
wastes combined with resin are called RFFU plate, and the flexural strength of the RFFU plates is
examined experimentally with respect to the amount of resin, the dimension of tipped wastes and the
specific gravity of RFFU plate.
The test results showed the followings.
(1) The appropriate unit content of resin is 0.1 - 0.15 of the total plate volume.
(2) The larger the specific gravity of RFFU plate is the larger the flexural strength.
(3) The fatigue strength of RFFU plates is less than that of FFU plates.
