The Study of the Design of Large Grain Size Asphalt Mixture,
which uses the Gyratory Compactor

Recently, attendant upon the increment of traffic volume, the enlargement of vehicle, the pavement rutting increase has become problem. The pavement rutting happens with the plastic flow of the asphalt concrete. Because of that, the development of the long-term service possible asphalt pavement, which is superior in flow resistance, is advanced.
In this research, the large grain size asphalt mixture, which is superior in flow resistance, was designed. The points of the design are shown below.
1. The large grain size aggregate was used.
2. The design of mix, which is observed to the connection effect of the coarse aggregate.
3. The gyratory compactor was used to specimen production.
Doing wheel tracking test and labeling test concerning the combination which is decided in the design of mix of this research and the combination which is decided in the design of mix of past, it compared flow resistance and wear resistance. As a result, combination of this research was good to both qualities. Therefore, as for design of mix method of this research, it was verified that the long-term service possible large grain size asphalt mixture could be produced.
