Mechanical Property of Copper Phosphate System Low Melting Glass
Kazumasa MATUSITA
The greater part of low melting glasses used now contains much lead compounds which are environmental pollution substances. It is known that fraction of Cu ions decreases by redox additives and physical properties are affected in CuOx-P2O5 systems that is new low melting glasses without lead oxides. In this study, mechanical properties and glass structure by reduction were discussed. As a result, it was found that glass transition temperature and Vickers hardness decrease with increasing in Cu+ ion fraction. It was also found that the density increases too. From above results, P5+ ion was also reduced to P3+ ion and effects on glass structure were discussed.
