Consideration on the Relation between Land Cover and Earth Surface Temperature Using Landsat-TM Data

There exists a close relation between the land cover state and the earth surface temperature. A relation equation between the land cover distribution and the earth surface temperature for Nagaoka city area was created using Landsat data observed on August 1, 1999. After creating the difference image between the temperature image generated using the above relation equation and the observation temperature image, and examinating the difference image, it was able to guess local factors of the heat characteristic in Nagaoka city guesses.
Moreover, a trial which guesses quantitatively the change of land surface temperature with the change of land covering state was performed.
